Paperwork + insurance companies = SNAFU

I just got a letter in the mail from my insurance company. They’ve approved me for 24 visits through 12/31/11. Ummmm I don’t think there are 24 hours left in 2011 so I’m not sure how I’m supposed to have 24 visits before the end of 2011. I know it’s just a paperwork SNAFU (Situation Normal All Fucked Up) and I just need to call them when they are open. It just made me laugh.

They must REALLY think I need help to approve 24 visits before the end of the current year ON December 31st.

DUH! How stupid can people be? Don’t you wish you could take them up on that offer of 24 visits? You could be in therapy right up until 11:59 tonight.

It reminds me of a funny thing that recently occured to me at my local CVS. I went to the pharmacy on December 26 to fill an rx for a new depression medication. Now, don’t you kind of assume a person filling a new rx for depression the day after Christmas must be in a bad place in their life? The pharmacist told me the rx was messed up and asked, “Would it be okay for us to call your doctor tomorrow since today is a holiday?” I replied that I think my doctor (who is also a therapist) would be available to correct the problem today. Sure enough, my rx was filled within 15 minutes. DUH!

Well, I’m sure you’re right that they will correct the error thae made on your approval form.
